Bills Targeting Protests In U.S. States Fuel Free Speech Fears

Republican lawmakers in several central U.S. states are pushing bills that would crack down on demonstrations, drawing criticism from free speech campaigners and underlining the polarization over protests in the era of President Donald Trump.

Bills have been introduced over the past month in states including North Dakota, Indiana and Iowa that would impose measures such as harsher penalties for demonstrators who disrupt traffic, and scrapping punishment for drivers who unintentionally strike protesters blocking their vehicles.

The push for stricter laws comes as opponents of Trump have vowed to take to the streets to demonstrate against his policies on issues ranging from immigration to abortion and climate change. Recall hundreds of thousands of people took part in women's marches on Jan. 21 in cities across the country.

We can only pray this never happens in America. It will send a bad signal to the world. No Trump, not this.

Lauretta Onochie Accused Of Trafficking Girls To Dubai For Prostitution

I wish I always had good news to report to you, but our world has as much evil in it that it is impossible to keep to that wish. Today, I am ready to make public some snippets of the outcome of a long standing investigation we have been pursuing on the Dubai Madams, their agents and sex-trafficking / sex slavery in Dubai, Greece and Italy with connections to Nigeria.

The report of my investigation was not to be released until the end of January. But events have forced me to act sooner by disclosing the identity of, by far, one of the major master-minds and super agents in the human trafficking rings with Nigeria and abroad. This woman goes by different names to various people. To the 15 girls in UAE, Italy and Greece that we have linked to her, she is known as “Aunty Lolly”. To some people that have worked with her in Dubai, she is simply “Lolly”. To those who have worked for her, she is “Madam” or “Aunty”. To the ordinary people who meet her on social network, she is Lauretta Onochie. These various names belong to the woman whose pictures are shown here. She maintains a Facebook page in which she projects herself as a sympathizer of the Nigerian ruling party.

Giroud scores goal of the year... and it's only January 1! Arsenal cruise past Crystal Palace after striker's outrageous scorpion kick

ARSENAL 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE Think of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s 'scorpion' style goal against Sunderland. Think of Jack Wilshere’s goal against Norwich, three years ago, a slick and intricate Arsenal sweep of the pitch with a sting in the tail. Put them together and you get Olivier Giroud’s goal against Crystal Palace. An exquisite moment of such delight that will probably survive the next 364 days and still be the Premier League’s best goal of 2017. It is certainly the most outrageous of this season. And it was, as Arsenal supporters were quick to gloat, falling over each other in a race to tap the keys of social media, better than Mkhitaryan’s by virtue of the build-up, the great distance from goal – and the fact it was onside.

Chelsea are in control of the title race... but the battles of the Big Six mean Conte's side haven't won it just yet

The super six are pulling away at the top of the table. The forthcoming fixtures between those clubs will go a long way to deciding who comes out on top at the end of the season. If you compile a mini-league of the top six, Liverpool are unbeaten and on top. These head-to-head fixtures between the elite are now pivotal.

Former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has taken to Facebook hours to new year to wish Nigerians a happy year ahead and advice on what to do to make the country great in 2017.

“My prayer for Nigeria in the year 2017 is that we continue to forge greater ties across the length and breadth of this great nation to the end that we may achieve the Nigerian Dream: A nation where the child of a nobody can become a somebody without knowing anybody.

“A nation where your knowledge, talent and character affect your upward mobility rather than the fact of your tribe, religion or birth. Such a Nigeria is possible if we all pitch in word, action and prayer which I am sure we will do.

“I wish all Nigerians a very Happy New Year 2017. On behalf of my family and I, I congratulate you for making it into the New Year. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
