Syndicate That Specialises In Repackaging, Rebranding Of Substandard Vegetable Oil Busted

A truckload of substandard vegetable oil has been intercepted in Akure, the Ondo State capital, by officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SO, Vanguard reports.

The syndicate, which specialises in repackaging and rebranding of suspected substandard vegetable oil was busted by both agencies in an enforcement exercise, following receipt of classified information from concerned stakeholders in the state.

Some of the items recovered from the illegal factory situated along Irese Road, near Orange FM Station in Akure, were thousands of jerry cans of different capacities and popular brands as well as two surface storage tanks of about 15,000 litres capacity each, according to the SON, Ondo State Coordinator, Engr. Paul Oke.

The University of Maiduguri yesterday night came under a series of attacks as suicide bombers detonated their explosives at different locations including the security office where two lives were reportedly lost.

More than 120 people have been killed when an overturned oil tanker exploded in Pakistan.

People had rushed to the scene of a highway accident after the tanker overturned to gather leaking fuel when the explosion occurred.

Rizwan Naseer, the head of the Punjab province's rescue services, said 122 people were killed and another 76 were wounded, with many suffering serious burns.

The first thing I do once I wake up is to pray to God, then I make sure I check on my family after that. I do some light exercise before I think of checking my phones to read messages and attend to them. After checking my phones, I have a mental plan of my day before I have my bath. Once I am done with that, I have breakfast and leave home. I am currently promoting some of my new songs so most of my days are filled with interviews and meetings. If my schedule is not tight, I go to the studio to record some songs. I try my best not to get home very late and I hardly go to clubs except I have a performance. FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holiday For Eid Al-fitr

 

Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27, 2017 have been declared as work-free days by the Federal Government to celebrate the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr.

A statement issued on Thursday, June 22, 2017, by the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary (DOOPS), Dr Rufa’i Kawu Attahiru, urged all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to use the occasion of the celebration for sober reflection and pray for peace, unity and progress of the nation in its march to nationhood.

The statement said the Minister of Interior, Mr Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who declared the two days as holiday, appealed to “all Nigerians to shun hate speeches and divisive tendencies and join hands with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to build a peaceful, strong and united Nigeria, which guarantees fundamental freedoms, including the right of residence in any part of the country, as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Niger ‘Doctor’ Who Specializes In Sucking Patients’ Sperm Arrested

Wetin we no go hear, lol. Police yesterday have arrested a 50-year-old fake Medical Doctor, Umaru Usman, who allegedly indulged in sucking sperm of patients in Minna, Niger State.

Usman was apprehended at the Out Patient Department of the Minna General Hospital after parading himself as a medical doctor for over two years without being detected.

It was learnt that the suspect, who was originally a hospital attendant, usually directs male patients away from the doctors into a room where he would massage their private parts until the patient discharges sperm into his palms.

Nigerian ‘Notorious Trafficker’ Who Takes Girls From Benin To Europe Nabbed

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, said it has arrested a 45-year-old woman, Rhoda Omorogie, alias Mama Bobo, for her alleged involvement in the trafficking of young girls from Benin to Europe.

The NAPTIP Head of Press and Public Relations, Josiah Emerole, said in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja that the operatives of the agency in Benin Zonal Command arrested the suspect in an early morning operation on Tuesday.

Mr. Emerole explained that Ms. Omorogie, a nurse by profession and an indigene of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo, was nabbed by the operatives at about 5 a.m. at her residence located at No. 65 Osayande St. off Upper Sakponda Road, Benin City.

PSFU Has Expressed Concern Over Nigerians Submitting Fake Documents For Italian Visas

The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Lagos, has expressed concern over increasing number of Nigerians allegedly involved in using fake documents to seek for Italian visa.

Spokesman of the unit, ASP Lawal Audu, disclosed this in Lagos on Sunday in an interview.

He said the Italian Embassy sends an average of 50 Nigerian Passports with fake documents to SFU monthly.

Audu noted that before now, Canada used to complain of such high numbers of fake documents, adding that attention had shifted to Italy now.

Grenfell Tower: Death Toll Rises To 79

Firefighters shed tears today during a minute's silence for the victims of the Grenfell Tower blaze, as the official death toll was raised to 79.

Metropolitan Police Commander Stuart Cundy said today that five people had been formally identified and the rest were 'sadly' missing presumed dead.

Mr Cundy said the death toll may still change, but not as significantly as it has in recent days.

The announcement came ahead of a minute's silence around the country at 11am to remember those who lost their lives in the fire in north Kensington last week.

Multiple Deaths Reported In Orlando, Florida Shooting

A man armed with a handgun and a knife shot and killed five employees at his former workplace in Orlando, Fla., this morning before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

The 45-year-old “disgruntled” ex-employee walked into the warehouse headquarters of the RV awning company, Fiamma Inc., and opened fire on workers inside, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at a press conference.

The 8:03 a.m. shooting left three men and one woman dead at the scene. A fourth man died at the Orlando Regional Medical Center as a result of his injuries, authorities said.

The gunman, whose identity was not immediately released, killed himself after the carnage.

Federal Government To Prosecute Promoters Of Fake News

The Federal Government today said that it will not relent until it has exposed those behind the fake news phenomenon in the country and bring them to justice.

In a statement in Abuja, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that those behind the fake news had the intention of destabilising the polity and causing disunity among the country’s various ethnic and religious groups.

The statement was signed by Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the Minister. The minister urged Nigerians to be extra vigilant in view of the worsening cases of fake news being spread by the unscrupulous persons.

Suspended Nigerian Judges Recalled; Three Others Placed On Watch List

The National Judicial Council has recalled a Federal High Court judge, Adeniyi Ademola, who was suspended alongside seven other judges following allegations of corruption brought against them by the federal government.

In a statement Saturday, the council said Mr. Ademola was recalled alongside five other judges.

Mr. Ademola and seven other judges were suspended in November 2016 after a raid on their homes by the State Security Service.

Three of the affected judges were charged to court, but only Mr. Ademola’s case has so far been concluded. The judge was acquitted of corruption charges.

NUPENG Vows To Resist Proposed N5 Petrol Levy

Musiliu Obanikoro's Mum Dies @ 95

Wasilat Obanikoro, mother of former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, is dead, her son said.

She was said to have been ill for a few weeks before passing on at her residence in Isale-Eko, Lagos.

The former petty trader would be buried at 3:00 p.m. at Ikoyi Cemetery, Lagos, in accordance with the dictates of Islam, which she practised until her demise, her son said. May God rest her soul.

Police Arrest 24-Year-Old Man On Suspicion Of Terror Offences Over Manchester Bombing

Police investigating the Manchester Arena terror attack have arrested a 24-year-old man, force bosses confirmed this morning. He was arrested in the Rusholme area of the city on suspicion of terrorism offences.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police this morning said: 'As it stands 17 people have been arrested in connection with the investigation, of which six people have since been released without charge.

'A total of 11 men remain in custody for questioning.'

14 Feared Killed, Six Abducted As Cultists Strike In Rivers

About 14 persons have allegedly been killed in Sime-Tai Community, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, following an invasion of the area on Thursday night by gunmen suspected to be cultists.

It was gathered that unknown gunmen invaded the community, shooting sporadically; a development that left many dead while several others had bullet wounds.

A source within the area, who confirmed the incident to Southern City News on telephone stated that the remains of the victims had been deposited in the mortuary.

The development, according to the source, has caused uneasy calm in the area as some people were seen, Friday, leaving for the neighbouring communities.
